Changed my bow on Wednesday. Used it for ten minutes, gave up and changed it back. Apparently, i could hardly pao gong with the other bow. Guess i'll have to live with the scraping noise from my Shanghai (oh wait... is it Beijing?) bow. Got reminded about the Music Exchange again. eEk. I get the jitters even when Erhu II is asked to play together. Wonder how i'm gonna be able to play then.
Wing San wasn't so shy today. She even initiated a conversation with me haha. Even though it was about nothing in particular (so inane that i forgot what we chatted about hahaa), it's better than nothing. Got kinda freaked out when i saw that the side of her erhu had split. She seemed to be worried about having to pay for it being damaged so i just a whole load of crap about expansion and contraction causing it to crack. Obviously, i've no idea why it cracked. Seriously though, i was wondering if she prances about at home, waving the erhu around wildly.
Her bowing is still kinda whacked up despite having copied the directions onto her scores. Weird. Seems that she doesn't look at her scores when she plays. She seemed so pressurised when Mr Chua asked her whether she knew how to play. I was like uh-oh i haven't taught her that part yet(cos i was trying to teach her the earlier part) but she said 'yes', so was I kinda surprised. Wonder if she really knew or she was just trying to help me cos i really couldn't hear her play and her bowing was wrong again.
Oh, i am not happy. This part of 'Chun' got changed by Mr Lee during full orchestra cos we couldn't play that part. Even though it's a very small part, i think it sounds ridiculous. Just because lots of people didn't try it out on their own, it got edited. Bah.
